The Sparkly ones

Well over the weekend I went with the wife up to visit one of her friends in Jacksonville or as I like to call it Actionville. Regardless with lots of time on my hands I started going thru the few dvds she had in her collection. Id say total she probably had about 50 or 60 dvds. Nothing really caught my eye until I ran across Twilight...not one, but Twilight New Moon and Eclipse.  I always laughed and this shit and just thought what a bunch of girly shit. Well I consider myself somewhat of a movie buff...now I said somewhat mind you. Anyways I always wondered what was the hype behind these girl vampire love stories and well there I was a lot of time and nothing to do and nothing really better to watch.

Needless to say I watched all 3 movies with my wife and friend and well...Im probably going to lose man points for this, but fuck they were actually decent. The whole idea of vampires and werewolves is a total subplot. Twilight is just your run of the mill love story with the idea of vampires and werewolves thrown in to put some excitement or something a little different for all the teens Im guessing. Not once do you ever see a single fang or any of the typical vampire lore. Occasionally someone flips out and there eyes turn red, other than that the whole vampire/werewolf side of things is so minimal. Again while Im not going to run out and buy these movies or anything I'll be honest and say it was just an all around decent movie.  The first movie really was simple yet interesting enough to keep me watching more. The 2nd movie New Moon I have to say was basically the first film all over again just from the perspective of the Wolves.

In my opinion the 2nd film is pretty weak and while not the greatest of the 3 the ending was strong enough to keep the story going for an obvious sequel. With the 2nd film centering more on the wolf side of things and sadly the CG wolves really looked like shit and pretty much take away from the story if you ask me. Lastly I watched Eclipse which continues the story referencing events from the first film and picking up where the 2nd left off. Eclilpse easily made up for the shittiness that was New Moon. While I still dont get all the hype myself I will admit that again they were just decent movies. I guess to really appreciate the full potential of these films you have to have a vagina and be between the ages of 13 and 35 apparently. Reading the books probably helps as well (that isnt happening).

So needless to say after it was all over I just kinda laughed to myself and thought well since Im this far in I'll wait for the Breaking Dawn to hit dvd and watch that one as well. Its not a life changer nor will these kind of movies ever grace my shelves of horror but I can at least say now I have seen them.
