I Saw the Devil - 2010

With my breif stay in South Korea, I remember several times in the subway stations seeing this poster, but obviously in all Korean. I didnt know what it was for or what it was about. Seeing the red knife, I figured it had to be some sort of dark suspense thriller so to speak, not necessarily a horror. I wasnt sure how big the horror scene was in Korea. I had only seen a handful of Korean movies and not many being horror...at least by Americas standard of whats considered horror. When you think of Asian horror most people probably think Japan and all their ghost movies.

Regardless of all that recently I threw this up on the netflix instant que and finally got a chance to watch it a few days ago. All I can say is holy shit this movie is so fucking awesome. Im not here to give spoilers or anything so i'll give the brief synopsis and leave it at that.

Simply put theres a crazy serial killer on the loose and well hes carving up women all over town and eventually crosses paths with a cop just as crazy as he is. This is where the movie gets interesting and more or less turns into a revenge film. The cop makes it his personal duty to go out of his way to track some might say stalk this killer everywhere he goes so that he can torture and torment him along the way. So what you get is this cat n' mouse game of both these dudes trying to out smart each other. With that comes some pretty cool blood and gore that I was actually really surprised to see coming from a Korean film. Some pretty cool action sequences take place between the cop and killer that are worth noting...but as I mentioned I wont spoil the movie.

If you get the chance watch this movie, its a fantastic back and forth murder fest of action and horror/suspense rolled into one film. This is something I'll probably add to the horror collection somewhere down the line.
