Recently I just watched Slugs on the netflix instant. Not a whole lot to say about this, besides the fact that its good 80's horror. The 80's were a time of slashers and creature features and animals that could kill you. I had seen this when I was a kid, but didnt really remember much about it so when I seen it on the netflix I was like hell yeah. So long story short...yeah...killer slugs. No one knows why there attacking and killing people but one health worker guy has some theories and they go testing the water and what not. During all that crap you get to see some pretty cool kill scenes especially considering for the 80's. Really good practical FX of slugs eating flesh and cleaning it to the bone. The one thing that made me laugh was every time someone happen to find the slugs someone always seemed to fall right in the middle of them and of course get devoured. Good times.
Im throwing Squirm -1976 on this as well because while watching Slugs it really reminded me of Squirm which was a great movie from the 70's. While Slugs had its moments, Squirm is great flick thru out in my opinion. The original cover had really awesome hand drawn art which featured a skull filled with worms and what not. Really great art work back in the day. Again, nothing special as far as story goes, worms go crazy when a down power line hits the ground and starts to drive them crazy pretty much. These arent just regular worms there hook worms and you really get some awesome close up shots which show the actual teeth on these things. Really gnarly stuff, but again just a great over all flick. You gotta remember the time this was produced cause Im sure most people will say its stupid, but again for its time such an awesome movie. "You gonna be the worm face" A famous line from this flick. Creepy crawlys and flesh eating worms, what more can you ask for. When movies fucking kicked ass.
