Facial Laser Hair Removal

Laser facial hair removal is an excellent method for removing unwanted facial hair for both men and women.  Compared to other options, it offers longer lasting results and less painful treatments. Laser hair removal works by targeting the melanin in the hair follicle, so the best results are with dark hair on light skin.  Treatments are not as effective on light colored hair.  Facial hair is the most resistant to permanent removal and usually requires five to six sessions about six to eight weeks apart to reach maximum results.  Further maintenance treatments may also be necessary. To determine if you are a good candidate for laser facial hair removal, it is recommended to consult a dermatologist prior to beginning laser facial treatments.  Most facial hair on women is determined by genes, hormones, and age, but any underlying health issues should not be overlooked.  Women with hormonal imbalances or other conditions such as polycystic ovarian disease should be seen by a doctor to discuss hormone balance treatment before starting laser facial hair removal.

Many women will get more facial hair with age and with hormonal changes associated with menopause. The facial areas most often treated on women are the upper lip, chin, and cheeks.  Because of the close proximity to the eye, it is often not recommended to use laser treatment on the brow area and in-between the eyes.  The laser rays can penetrate deeply and this area may be better treated with other options.  However, if laser treatment is chosen for this area, protective eye shields should be worn. Men may choose laser facial hair removal for the brow area or to have a smooth facial appearance without shaving.  As with women, the area around the eye should only be treated with caution and eye shields should be worn.  With age, many men get hair on their ears and choose to have it removed with laser treatments. Laser facial hair removal procedures take very little time.  The upper lip area takes about five minutes per session.  A full face takes about 15 minutes per session.  Although multiple treatments are needed, laser facial hair procedures are still a relatively time efficient method for removing unwanted facial hair and the results are more permanent than other methods of hair removal at
